Singapore Day 1-- Prima Taste Kitchen (2008-11-28)
We had been up over 16 hours by the time we settled into our room. We were too tired and too sleepy to look around for restaurants in the too hot and too humid weather. Besides, we wanted AIR-CONDITIONING, no hawker centers for sure. Therefore we headed straight to Prima Taste Kitchen at CentrePoint mall which is less than five minutes from the hotel.Prima Taste, the company that makes all those yummy pre-mixes and
sauces that I love has its own restaurant too. How can we not
have Singapore food for our first meal?
There are too many choices on the menu, but we deliberately bypassed
the chicken rice because we had somewhere else in mind to eat
that. We ordered a fried soft-shell crab, rojak, and laksa yon
tau foo (stuffed tofu in laksa soup) and barley drinks, all popular
local food.
We enjoyed all of them except for the rojak. It was the first
time we had this salady dish and we didn't like it. The
sauce/dressing was too sweet and there's a weird undescribable taste in
it that was sort of disgusting.
After dinner, we got a coupla slices of their pork and beef jerky
from Bee Cheng Hiang which was even tastier than the ones from Taiwan,
and an Australian mango from a supermarket as snacks on our way back to
the hotel.
The first day was exhausting but good.
